The Right Laser for Every Gynecologist
For more than 15 years, Fotona has been at the forefront of laser gynecology research, developing revolutionary, minimally invasive gynecology treatments based on the industry’s most highly effective, gold-standard Er:YAG and Nd:YAG laser wavelengths. The culmination of this extensive research & development activity is the FotonaSmooth™ platform, a line of non-contact, non-invasive gynecological lasers that provide unrivaled treatment results with unmatched ease of use, safety and efficiency.
By combining two gold-standard laser wavelengths in a single system, FotonaSmooth SP functions as highly versatile, multi-purpose treatment platform that can perform an exceptionally wide range of treatment possibilities, including completely new approaches for effectively healing common gynecological problems. Each system features an intuitive, easy-to-use-interface with customizable memory presets to help you perform your work faster and more effectively.
Gold Standard Er:YAG with New SMOOTH Mode
Fotona’s Er:YAG laser technology is ideal for the treatment of lesions of the uterine neck and vagina, as well as HPV lesions, pigmentations and neoplasias. Because of its unique disinfecting capability, it even promotes faster healing of infected tissue.
Fotona's high-performance Er:YAG laser ablates precisely without heating surrounding tissue. Er:YAG energy is highly absorbed in water – the main target chromophore in skin treatments – and can thus vaporize the skin with micron-level precision and very little thermal conduction.
Fotona’s patented VSP technology enables the Er:YAG laser to be accurately tuned from warm to “cold” ablation as well as non-ablative thermal ratios. This allows for a wide range of non-ablative treatment possibilities, including Fotona's revolutionary IntimaLase®, IncontiLase® and RenovaLase® treatments based on proprietary SMOOTH mode settings.
Nd:YAG and QCW Mode for Additional Applications
Fotona’s high-performance Nd:YAG laser perfectly complements the Er:YAG laser with its ability to penetrate deeply to create thermal effects without damaging the tissue surface. Its homogeneous absorption in tissue and low absorption in melanin allow it to be safely used with all skin types.
The FotonaSmooth SP’s Nd:YAG laser provides the power and performance needed to handle more advanced gynecological applications, such as laparotomy, laparoscopic and hysteroscopic procedures, as well as for aesthetic gynecological procedures. Compared to conventional technologies, Fotona’s proprietary VSP Nd:YAG pulses create virtually instantaneous temperature increases that are limited to the targeted structures only.
In addition, FotonaSmooth SP lasers can be optionally equipped with one of the most powerful QCW (Quasi Continuous Wave) infrared surgical lasers on the market. With specially designed surgical handpieces, FotonaSmooth SP provides the ideal performance and wavelength characteristics for an exceptionally wide range of surgical treatment options.
G-Runner

Clinical Results
What is VSP?
VSP (Variable Square Pulse) technology is a patented solution for generating square laser pulses for more controlled energy absorption. Pulse durations can be adjusted from 50 us up to 1500 us, depending on the practitioner’s needs. VSP pulse technology minimizes unnecessary laser energy absorption into body tissues and helps to ensure ultimate performance and patient comfort during laser treatments.
What is SMOOTH mode?
SMOOTH mode is a Er:YAG treatment modality that delivers laser energy onto the skin in a fast sequence of low-fluence laser pulses inside an overall super-long pulse of 200-350 msec. Because SMOOTH pulses are longer than the epidermal TRT, the effect of SMOOTH mode is gentle coagulative heating of the skin without any significant ablation of the epidermis.
What is EFC?
EFC (Energy Feedback Control) technology is a core safety feature which actively monitors each individual pulse’s energy level to ensure that the output energy is exactly matched to the practitioner’s chosen parameters throughout the duration of each treatment session.
