Prof. Marini Holds Presentation Session as Invited Lecturer to the Laser and Health Academy

7 April 2008

Prof. Marini insists on providing patients credible, realistic results through his formula of combining the best-suitable and effective treatment modalities in his anti-aging treatments. Key to his treatment successes is not to achieve instant yet unnatural and rather incredible results, but to use micro-invasive treatments that guarantee step-by-step improvement. Prof. Marini thus combines several non light-based and light-based treatment modalities in his anti-aging treatment strategies. Er:YAG and Nd:YAG lasers can play an important role in an effective anti-aging treatment plan, especially when supported by technological solutions that enhance their clinical effect while reducing their invasiveness. In this way Prof. Marini is able to introduce changes to patient's appearance more subtly and naturally with longer lasting results. It must be understood that these modifications are not permanent but allow for skin to continue changing naturally. It is important to educate patients on differences between graduate improvement achieved in more sessions with gentler procedures and single invasive treatment with instant highly noticeable results.

Prof. Marini also covered the treatment of rosacea and senile angiomas during his presentation session. Both conditions are progressive and require multiple treatments. Rosacea is a complex condition and proper treatment design is essential. A typical treatment design for Prof. Marini consists of patient education, behavioural modification, diet, psychological support, topical and systemic medical treatment and light treatment. Among others KTP Nd:YAG and Nd:YAG lasers were named as suitable treatment modalities to treat rosacea. In the treatment of senile angiomas, methemoglobin is the ideal target because of its combined intra- and extra-vascular effects. Prof. Marini prefers administering field treatment to spot treatments and combining treatment modalities for better results. According to Prof. Marini it is essential to understand the dynamic character of haemoglobin, which will allow the practitioner to adjust the photocoagulative effects of the treatment appropriately. It goes without saying that this would require a system that allows for such a wide range of effective treatment settings.

Use of lasers in combined anti-aging treatment process is rapidly gaining importance in anti-aging medicine through new findings on parameter settings and effects of different methods and strategies. After the lecture session Prof. Marini and participants held an interesting and very constructive brainstorming session on anti-aging treatments trends and how technological developments can support these trends. Prof. Marini emphasized the importance of such debates and accepted the invitation as a member and invited lecturer of the Laser and Health Academy.
