Fotona receives prestigious "red dot design award 2012" for its latest dental laser LightWalker

A total of 4,515 products from different manufacturers from around the world competed for the award. Fotona's LightWalker dental laser was recognized for combining innovation, technological perfection and excellent design.  

The red dot award is considered one of the most distinguished international quality seals for exceptional design. The winners will be introduced on July 2nd, 2012 at the red dot gala event, where more than 1000 international guests from the fields of design, industry and media will gather at the Essen opera house in Germany for the traditional award presentation.

Fotona designed LightWalker in collaboration with industrial designer Bojan Klančar and the internationally recognized Italian design agency Creanova. The system offers the dentist ease-of-use and superior ergonomics:

  • A state of the art color touch screen with an adjustable tilt,
  • Interchangeable optics for new technologically advanced handpieces,
  • A modern, durable and lightweight system housing,
  • An easy-to-access water reservoir,
  • A unique and patented OPTOflex articulated arm, which allows a full range of motion and easy access to difficult to reach areas.

With the introduction of LightWalker on the market in 2011, Fotona's R&D department, led by dr. Marko Marinček, caused a revolution in dentistry because the system offers little-or-no-pain treatment of soft and hard tissues. Additionally, it offers faster healing, bloodless and sutureless soft-tissue surgery, effective periodontal treatments, safe and efficient endodontic treatment and numerous cosmetic procedures. The red dot award is LightWalker's third prestigious international quality recognition. In 2011 the Pride Institute awarded the laser system the "Best of Class Technology Award", and Dentistry Today, America's leading clinical news magazine for dentists, recognized LightWalker as one of the "TOP 100 dental products of the year".
